Individual linked to another similar offense charged with taking stretcher from funeral home in Georgia

It has been discovered that the man who allegedly stole a medical stretcher from a funeral home in Paulding County is also responsible for the theft of another stretcher from a funeral home in Acworth.

Michael Christopher Johnson, 56, from Valrico, Florida, is wanted for theft by the Acworth police. An arrest warrant has been issued for him.

At present, he holds warrants for felony entering automobile, misdemeanor theft by taking, and misdemeanor criminal trespass and damage to property from the City of Acworth.

After reviewing surveillance footage and Flock cameras, police identified Johnson as the suspect in the theft of a mortuary stretcher from a vehicle at Georgia Funeral Care on May 8th.

After conducting an investigation, detectives were able to pinpoint Johnson’s involvement in several other crimes of similar nature that occurred in different cities.

On May 6, Johnson was allegedly involved in stealing a stretcher from Benson’s Funeral Home in Dallas, Georgia.

Authorities are searching for him in at least one more Georgia county for committing a similar crime, indicating that he is a repeat offender.

It is possible that Johnson is currently operating a Chrysler van with a silver exterior and a Florida license plate reading PM759X.

If you have any information regarding Johnson, kindly get in touch with the Acworth Police Department at 770-974-1232. Your assistance could be crucial in the case.
