A woman in South Africa was accused on Thursday of kidnapping and trafficking her 6-year-old daughter, who went missing in February, according to the Associated Press. Local media said that Kelly Smith’s neighbor, Raquel Chantel Smith, accused her of selling her daughter Joslin shortly after she went missing. Smith was arrested along with three other people, including her boyfriend, and will appear in court next week. Prosecutors claimed Smith plotted to kidnap and sell her daughter with the help of others. Last Monday, authorities reported they uncovered part of the missing child’s clothing near the hamlet in Saldanha Bay, where she lived with her mother. Smith’s whereabouts are still unknown, and police said they intend to refocus their search. “At this time, we do not have a child,” said Western Cape province police commissioner Thembisile Patekile. “Our main goal is to find the child. We still want to find that child alive.”
