Mississippi’s State Auditor Demands Brett Favre Repay $730,000 in Misspent Welfare Funds

MBS News – Mississippi’s State Auditor initiated legal action against former NFL quarterback Brett Favre on Monday, claiming that Favre owes the state approximately $730,000 in interest. This is in connection to the misuse of over $1 million in welfare funds for personal endeavors.

In the legal documents, Auditor Shad White stated that Favre had no legitimate claim to the $1.1 million, highlighting Favre’s role in a significant welfare fraud case. This involved the misallocation of welfare funds intended for needy families to finance a volleyball facility at the University of Southern Mississippi, Favre’s alma mater and where his daughter was a volleyball player.

Favre has already reimbursed the state $1.1 million through two installments in 2020 and 2021. However, according to the recent court documents, Favre is still liable for $729,790 in interest on top of the initial amount.
