Gas prices in Michigan and metro Detroit have seen a slight decrease after reaching a new high for 2024 over the weekend.
Prices in the state reached $3.70 over the weekend before falling slightly to $3.69, marking a 15 cent increase compared to the previous week. Although the current price is 19 cents higher than last month, it remains 2 cents lower than the price recorded at this time last year.
Gas prices in metro Detroit have risen by 9 cents to $3.65 per gallon, which is approximately 1 cent lower compared to the same period last year.
According to AAA-The Auto Club Group spokesperson Adrienne Woodland, motorists in Michigan are experiencing an increase in pump prices, reaching a new high for 2024. Woodland suggests that if crude oil prices continue to rise and supply remains tight, it is likely that gas prices will also increase.
