A judge in Walworth County has sentenced Yefferson Guzman Rodriguez to two years in prison for each of two counts related to an incident that occurred in October 2023. According to officials, he held a victim against her will for several days and was later found wielding multiple rifles.
According to officials, Guzman Rodriguez was first spotted by officers on Highland Street, and as soon as he saw them, he started running away on foot. The officers chased him, and eventually caught him on S. Prince Street. The officials mentioned that Guzman Rodriguez put up a fight and did not comply with the officers’ orders to surrender. As a result, the officers used a taser to subdue him and bring him into custody.
According to officials, Yefferson Guzman Rodriguez from Whitewater was accused of holding a woman against her will, and even went as far as holding a gun against her head. Guzman Rodriguez was subsequently arrested by the Whitewater police.
A perimeter was established by officers around the residence and garage, with the assistance of the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team and Beloit Police Department SWAT team, to search the property. However, the suspect could not be found during the search. In addition to this, Whitewater Police carried out searches on multiple residences, occupied by individuals known to the suspect, but were unsuccessful in locating him.
According to Whitewater city manager John Weidl, one of their officers had a lead on the suspect’s possible whereabouts based on previous interactions.
On Monday, Guzman Rodriguez was spotted by the police on Highland Street, and he immediately fled the scene. Eventually, the authorities caught up to him a few blocks away on Prince Street, where he was subsequently apprehended. However, Guzman Rodriguez resisted the police’s attempts to detain him and had to be subdued with a taser.
Authorities had been on the lookout for Guzman Rodriguez, who was wanted for several offenses, including Kidnapping, False Imprisonment, Recklessly Endangering Safety, Intentionally Pointing a Firearm at a Person, and Disorderly Conduct.
