Man charged with boxcutter-slashing 19-year-old on Brooklyn corner

NEW YORK — Authorities stated that after a 19-year-old guy was slashed with a boxcutter early on Saturday morning on a Brooklyn street, they promptly charged a suspect in the unprovoked attack.

According to police, the victim was asked what he was looking at by an unknown person when he was at the intersection of Ditmas Avenue and McDonald Avenue, which separates Borough Park from Kensington.

The 19-year-old was allegedly hit across the back with a boxcutter by the accused after he replied that he wasn’t looking at anything.

According to officials, the man was transported to Maimonides Medical Center in stable condition and had a cut over the left side of his back.

After being placed under arrest, authorities recognized the individual as 25-year-old Marco Bautista. Bautista resides in Kensington, just a few blocks away from the scene of the attack.

According to authorities, Bautista was accused of felony assault and illegal firearm possession. In 2020 and 2021, he was charged with public lewdness and DWI, respectively.
