Man Accused Of Stabbing Two Teens Released From Jail 2 Weeks Earlier For Pulling A Gun On A Worker

Mocobizscene-The man responsible for stabbing two teenage girls on Christmas Day at Grand Central Terminal has a troubled past, with previous arrests and a recent release from jail just two weeks prior to the incident.

Steven Hutcherson, a 36-year-old man, had been arrested at least 17 times before he carried out a brutal attack on two teenage girls at Grand Central Terminal. Just two weeks prior to the attack, he had been in jail.

According to The New York Post, Huterchson admitted guilt to third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, and Judge Matthew V. Grieco sentenced him to conditional discharge on Dec. 12.

On November 7, Hutcherson is said to have become aggressive and brandished a firearm after a man intervened to protect a woman from an alleged attack.

Yussif Abdullahi, a 46-year-old man, was working outside a freight truck depot when he bravely intervened to stop Hutcherson from attacking a woman, as reported by The New York Post.

Abdullahi shared with The Post on Tuesday that he initially dismissed Hutcherson’s behavior as unserious. However, Hutcherson’s actions escalated when he blocked Abdullahi’s path and turned violent.

Following the incident, it was reported that Hutcherson unexpectedly struck another individual. Subsequently, he was apprehended at a nearby gas station and faced charges of criminal possession of a weapon, menacing, harassment, and assault.

Although the police were unable to retrieve a firearm, they did discover a knife in his possession. Law enforcement officials categorized Hutercherson as an “emotionally disturbed person” in multiple reports.

In recent months, there have been reports of his arrest on different charges, including possession of weapons and engaging in erratic behavior. Abdullahi expressed disbelief at the decision to release him from jail, stating, “They shouldn’t have let him out. I don’t believe it.”

It is currently uncertain how Hutcherson’s Monday arrest will affect the previous one. Josh Hutcherson is currently awaiting arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court. He is facing charges of attempted murder, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and misdemeanor endangerment of a child.
