Man Accused Of Murder In Deadly Stabbing At Macy’s In Center City; Victim’s Identity Revealed

A 30-year-old man has been charged with murder and other related offenses by the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office. The charges stem from the fatal stabbing of a security guard at the Macy’s department store in Center City. The stabbing occurred at approximately 11 a.m. on Monday.

Security stopped Tyrone Garcell Tunnell when he attempted to steal multiple hats from the store. They were able to recover the stolen hats and released the suspect. Christian Mitchell, a 23-year-old guard, stepped in and ended up with injuries to his face and arm.

Tunnell was apprehended by the police at the Somerset SEPTA station in the Kensington neighborhood. Witnesses positively identified him as the suspect.
