Mocobizscene- A suspect was apprehended by the Homicide Branch of the Metropolitan Police Department in connection with a fatal gunshot that occurred in Southeast D.C. The incident transpired in the 1900 block of Minnesota Avenue, Southeast, on November 14, 2023.
When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered a woman who was injured by gunfire. Upon being transported to a nearby medical facility, she succumbed to her injuries. It was determined that the victim was Nakysia Rachael Lemon-Williams, age 26.
Yazmin Owens, age 24, was apprehended by the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force on December 20, 2023, in accordance with a warrant issued by the DC Superior Court. Owens is accused of Premeditated First-Degree Murder while Armed. Regarding case number 23186777, the investigation is presently ongoing. An essential element of the investigation into the gunshot is the apprehension.
