Ronald Thomas shared that his brother Wayne’s funeral was taking place on Saturday, over three weeks after the tragic killings. He mentioned that Sweeney, who had difficulty walking, was in need of a new home that could better cater to her needs.
Ronald, 55, shared that his sibling and Sweeney had intended to leave. According to Ronald, they had planned to move out in August but were unable to do so. They had found a place to move into but were waiting for their deposit from the landlord.
He expressed his deep distress over the killings, describing the impact as devastating. The emotional toll was evident in his inability to sleep or eat, as he grappled with the shocking reality of the situation. The family remains in disbelief, struggling to come to terms with the magnitude of this tragic event.
Daniel, aged 54, faced arraignment on Monday after being indicted on charges related to a gruesome incident. The indictment accuses him of three counts each of first-degree and third-degree murder, as well as criminal possession of a weapon.
According to the police, he reportedly admitted to committing a wrongdoing.
According to Ronald Thomas, his brother was employed at JFK International Airport, where Ronald currently holds a supervisory position in the cargo division. It was Ronald who had facilitated his brother’s employment at the airport.
According to his brother, Wayne Thomas was employed by Worldwide Flight Services in a warehouse where he operated a forklift and was responsible for loading and unloading cargo at a specific area of the Queens airport.
According to relatives and friends, that is where he crossed paths with Sweeney. Sweeney was employed by Corporate Loss Prevention Associates, an external contractor, and was part of the security team stationed at Building 9 in JFK.
They both worked the midnight-to-7 a.m. shift and commuted together. Thomas was originally from Jamaica, while Sweeney was raised in the UK within a Jamaican family, as confirmed by friends and relatives.
According to his brother, Wayne Thomas, the eldest of six children, moved to the United States approximately 20 years ago. Last year, Daniel and his girlfriend moved into the Queens apartment together. However, Daniel’s brother denies his assertion that he was annoyed with them because they owed him back rent.
