Mocobizscene- Law enforcement agencies from Picayune, St. Bernard, Slidell, and St. Tammany in Louisiana collaborated effectively to apprehend two juvenile suspects. These individuals were responsible for a string of crimes involving vehicles in multiple jurisdictions.
On January 21, 2024, the Picayune Police Department received multiple reports of criminal activities, including a vehicle burglary, vandalism, the recovery of a stolen vehicle, and the theft of another vehicle. Following the necessary procedures for the recovered stolen vehicle, the detectives and officers involved successfully identified two juveniles as the suspects in these incidents.
On January 26, five days after the initial incident, Picayune Police once again received reports of a stolen vehicle being recovered, a burglary, and another stolen vehicle. In a concerted effort, the department joined forces with the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Department, Slidell Police Department, and St. Tammany Sheriff’s Department to track down the stolen vehicles and apprehend the individuals responsible.
Picayune Police Detectives received a tip-off on January 28 and promptly notified the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Department about the presence of two juvenile suspects at a Walmart in St. Bernard. Deputies were dispatched to the scene and managed to apprehend one of the suspects after a brief car chase in the parking lot. However, the second suspect managed to escape on foot, temporarily eluding capture.
On the next day, someone reported another vehicle stolen to the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Department. Luckily, the stolen vehicle was found near the suspect’s residence in St. Tammany. The law enforcement wasted no time and apprehended the second juvenile suspect on that very day.
Picayune Police Detectives went to the St. Tammany Sheriff’s Department and the Florida Parishes Juvenile Detention Center to interview the juveniles. These juveniles are now facing charges, including two counts of Grand Larceny (Auto), two counts of vehicle burglary, and one count of malicious mischief for the crimes they committed in Picayune. The respective agencies are also investigating other stolen vehicles from Slidell and St. Bernard.
Authorities are still searching for a gray 2012 Hyundai Sonata with Mississippi license plate PRD1549 that was stolen from Picayune. It is suspected that the vehicle may currently be located in the St. Bernard area. If you have any information about the whereabouts of this car, please contact the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office at 504-271-2501.
