Mocobizscene-A judge in Clark County has ordered the Clark County School District to release the body camera footage of an altercation between a school officer and a student from Durango High School. The district has been given a deadline of 30 days to comply with the ruling.
The American Civil Liberties Union of Nevada and CCSD were set to appear in court on Tuesday in their ongoing efforts to compel CCSD to release the footage from the incident that occurred in February.
The CCSD stated that the officer involved in the incident did not face any disciplinary actions for his actions.
The ACLU filed a lawsuit demanding the disclosure of the records, challenging CCSD’s assertion of their confidentiality. However, on Monday, the court determined that these records are indeed public records.
The ruling mandated CCSD to release the officer bodycam footage, citation information, incident reports, and dispatch logs within a 30-day timeframe.
The ACLU is set to appear in court on Tuesday morning for a status check on the emails that were deemed potentially relevant to the incident.
