Jennifer Granholm, United States Secretary of Energy, to make a trip to Michigan

United States Secretary of Energy and former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm is set to visit Mid-Michigan.

On Tuesday morning, Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Granholm, and UAW President Shawn Fain will engage in a discussion about the Battery Workforce Initiative. The primary objective of this initiative is to establish universally recognized training guidelines for individuals employed in the car battery and automotive industry.

Two car battery plants are currently being built in Mid-Michigan.

Ford is currently in the process of building a manufacturing plant for electric vehicles in Marshall. Additionally, General Motors is also constructing an Ultium Cells plant in Delta Township.

The event on Tuesday will take place at UAW Local 652 and is scheduled to begin at 9:45 AM.
