In a recent episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” Rep. Jasmine Crockett shared the hilarious story behind her savage takedown of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. Crockett admitted that she still finds the whole situation humorous.
On the House floor, the rising star of the Democratic party from Texas gained viral attention due to a specific moment. She took a dig at Marjorie Taylor Greene, labeling her as a “bleach blonde, bad-built, butch body.”
During a heated exchange between Georgia congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene and Democratic lawmakers on the House Oversight Committee, Greene directed a vicious insult towards Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, commonly known as AOC. The insult has since become infamous.
“Your fake eyelashes are interfering with your reading,” Greene pointed out. Crockett responded with her now-famous comeback, which she later turned into a merchandise collection within a few days.”
When Kimmel inquired about the events leading up to the exchange, Crockett responded by taking a swipe at her colleague from the opposite political party.
Crockett explained that Marjorie tends to take things a bit slower than others. However, he revealed that on the day in question, their hearing was scheduled for 11 a.m. but didn’t actually take place until 8 p.m.
During a hearing on a motion to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland, Crockett made a reference to the postponement of the hearing. This was done to allow Greene and her fellow supporters of MAGA to campaign at Donald Trump’s criminal trial.
Crockett expressed his frustration, stating that they had to wait for their colleagues to return. The conversation was meant to revolve around AG Merrick Garland, but his colleague diverted the topic to Judge Merchan’s trial. This was particularly frustrating for Crockett as it was already late in the night, and he had been waiting all day to start work. He found it hard to understand why his colleague was still talking about the failed trial and had to ask if she comprehended the situation. Crockett even mentioned that he was upset because his colleague wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed.
During an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Representative Katie Porter disclosed that while Marjorie Taylor Greene initiated the exchange of insults, she had to respond after Greene was allowed to remain on the floor by Oversight Chair James Comer. Porter further added that she still holds a negative opinion of Greene, stating that it would be difficult to find someone less intelligent in their chamber.
