Mocobizscene- A homicide investigation has been initiated by the Indianapolis metro police following the discovery of a deceased man with a gunshot wound inside a residence on the northeast side of the city on Monday morning.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office is currently investigating the cause of death and will disclose the identity of the deceased person at a later time. IMPD has not yet released any information about the suspect.
Police have been called to the troubled Towne and Terrace Apartments on multiple occasions. According to data collected by FOX/CBS4, IMPD has investigated 18 homicides that reportedly took place at the housing complex between 2018 and 2023.
The demolition of the building on Essex Court within the complex started last year. The city has expressed its plans to assess and acquire additional units, with a goal of completing the demolition by late 2024 or early 2025.
All the owners must be bought out before the complex can be fully demolished.
