Investigation underway after 10-year-old boy shot in Southeast DC on 13th Street

Mocobizscene- DC Police are currently investigating a shooting incident that involves a juvenile. The incident took place on 13th Street in Southeast, D.C.

At approximately 8:20 p.m., the police received a report about gunshots in the 3400 block of 13th Street. Upon reaching the scene, the officers discovered a conscious and breathing child. They promptly transported him to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

According to officials, the shooting incident occurred while the boy was in the company of his mother. Investigators suspect that the boy may have inadvertently found himself caught in the crossfire between two individuals engaged in a gunfight.

During a news conference on Saturday night, an official from the MPD stated that they do not believe he was the intended target of this situation.You can view the entire news conference in the video below:

As part of their investigation, the police have blocked off the 3400 block of 13th Street between Congress Street and Trenton Place. DC Police are currently at the scene of a shooting involving a juvenile on 13th Street in Southeast, D.C.
