Inmate in Pennsylvania Jail Successfully Escapes Using Homemade Rope Made from Jail Clothes

A man who used a “homemade rope” managed to escape from Blair County Prison in Pennsylvania on December 3, according to police officials.

Isaiah R. Tilghman, 33, managed to escape from the Hollidaysburg Borough Police Department on Sunday. He cleverly used a rope made from jail attire to climb through a ventilation shaft and escape through a window. This daring escape occurred sometime between 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

He was identified as being from State College in at least one court document. The police stated that he was currently held at the Blair County Prison due to his involvement in drug-related offenses, along with a state parole detainer.

Authorities are currently uncertain about the direction in which he fled, so if you have any information, please contact 911 right away. The suspect is described as approximately 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing around 160 pounds.

It is uncertain whether the jail had a full staff at the time of Tilghman’s escape. As of Monday afternoon, the jail was on lockdown.
