According to the Roanoke Times, Tryon-Castro acknowledged her involvement in disorderly conduct. Nevertheless, her defense attorney contested the assault and robbery felony charges.

On the day of the “Stop the Steal” rally organized by former President Donald Trump, Tryon-Castro and Joseph were part of a mob that stormed the Capitol and disrupted the certification of President Joe Biden’s electoral win in 2020. They engaged in violent clashes with law enforcement officers at the “Tunnel,” an entrance to the Capitol located on the Lower West Terrace, which was one of the most intense areas of confrontation, according to authorities.

According to court documents, Tryon-Castro boldly made her way to the front of the police line donning a knit beanie that bore the word “Washington.”

With a wave of her arm, she beckoned other rioters to join her at the front, exclaiming, “Come on up! Come on in!”

A woman actively participated in the riot by pushing against police officers, giving directions to fellow rioters, and even taking a riot shield from an officer’s hands and handing it over to others involved in the chaos.

During the chaos, she demonstrated remarkable courage by assisting a rioter in moving away from the front line. She boldly called out to other rioters, urging them to “let him out!” Her quick thinking and bravery in such a dangerous situation were truly commendable.

During another moment, she exclaimed, “ya’ll, we need to move the shields to the front!” while also saying “I’m pushing!” with determination.

Wearing a tricorn-style hat, gas mask, and body armor, Joseph forcefully made his way to the front of the police line and proceeded towards the Tunnel’s entrance. Before exiting, he handed his gas mask to another rioter who joined the chaos. According to prosecutors, Joseph stood at the entrance of the Tunnel and made another attempt to push against the police line before finally leaving the building.

On January 17th, 2023, authorities apprehended Tryon-Castro, and the very next day, Joseph was taken into custody.

According to authorities, over 1,450 individuals have been charged with various crimes related to the U.S. Capitol breach that occurred on January 6, 2021, in a span of 41 months.

Law & Crime reported that a man who wore a tricorn hat, gas mask, and body armor during the Capitol riot has been convicted of Jan. 6 felonies.
