College students in GA are transforming their side hustles into flourishing enterprises

Two college students from north Fulton began a side hustle which has now blossomed into a successful business. They are among the many individuals who have turned to gig work as a means of earning a living.

According to consumer advisor Clark Howard from Channel 2, now is the perfect time to discover new opportunities to make some additional money.

Morgan Leemaster has always had a passion for side hustles.

He said that he was always on the lookout for odd jobs, mostly during his middle school and freshman year.

One of his ventures was transformed into Mulligan Golf Balls, a company that specializes in selling second-hand golf balls through the internet.

Leemaster shared that his idea of collecting and reselling golf balls was initially a way for him to save up for college. However, the venture kept expanding as time passed. According to him, their mission is to provide a second chance for golf balls that have been lost in the water or woods.

At the mere age of sixteen, he purchased the company by utilizing the earnings he had acquired from working on another side job – landscaping.

Jack Emacio, co-owner of Leemaster and Mulligans, sells golf balls through various platforms including Amazon, eBay, Facebook, and Shopify.

According to Leemaster, a considerable number of individuals are putting in a lot of effort to earn a living by any means possible.

As per a survey conducted by neighbor.com, it is true that slightly more than 30% of college students are engaged in a side hustle. Moreover, almost 70% of fresh graduates are dependent on gig work to manage their expenses.

According to Ted Rossman, the typical side hustler earns around $900 each month, making it a great additional source of income.

According to the senior industry analyst at Bankrate.com, the side hustle industry is expected to experience growth.

According to him, advancements in technology have played a significant role in making things more accessible. With the rise of online platforms and mobile applications, it has become easier than ever to accomplish tasks digitally.

Getting paid through apps like Venmo or PayPal has become incredibly convenient, but it’s important to remember that taxes still apply.

According to Rossman, the threshold to receive a tax form used to be 200 transactions and $20,000 a year, which was quite high historically. However, the threshold has now been reduced significantly to just $600.

It is essential to maintain accurate records of your earnings to ensure that you file your taxes correctly.

According to Leemaster, the key aspect of any side hustle is the willingness to invest effort and dedication into it.

“It’s a challenging task, and there’s no denying it. You need to maintain discipline and focus, but the rewards are worth it. The feeling of accomplishment when you receive a substantial paycheck is unparalleled,” he remarked.
