Individual allegedly masquerading as a priest and committing church burglaries across the country, including Queens

A man who purportedly impersonated a priest to gain entry into churches across the country and commit burglaries has returned to New York City to face charges. The suspect, originally from Queens, is accused of using his fake identity to gain access to multiple churches before stealing from them.

On Thursday night, Malin Rostas, aged 45, was escorted out of the 111th Precinct in handcuffs.

In April, authorities arrested him in southern California on charges of attempted burglary of a church.

In March of last year, American Martyrs’ Roman Catholic Church in Queen was burglarized by a man who called himself “Father Martin” to gain entry. Authorities report that this was a common tactic used by the perpetrator to gain access to other churches as well.

At this point, there hasn’t been any additional information shared.
