A pickup truck was pulled over on the Mississippi interstate last Friday, and during the search, authorities discovered approximately 22 pounds of fentanyl concealed in secret compartments of the vehicle.
The Rankin County Sheriff’s Office officials have reported that the traffic stop took place on Friday at around 2 p.m. on Interstate 20.
64-year-old Arturo Gonsen-Miranda from North Carolina has been taken into custody and is facing charges of aggravated trafficking of a controlled substance.
During the traffic stop, a Rankin County deputy grew suspicious of the driver’s involvement in drug trafficking. To assist in the investigation, a K9 unit was called in. The K9 officer successfully detected hidden drugs concealed within two false compartments in the vehicle.
A total of 22 pounds of fentanyl were found hidden in the compartments.
Gonsen-Miranda remains detained at the Rankin County Jail without the possibility of bond.
