Grandmother from New Orleans abducted and assaulted in the West Bank of Palestine

 New Orleans— Monday in the West Bank of Palestine, a grandmother from New Orleans was abducted and assaulted, according to a news release by Louisiana for Palestine.

As per the news release, Samaher Esmail, who was born and reared in New Orleans, was at her residence in Silwad when her family reported that Israeli Defense Forces had abducted her.

Ibrahim Hamed, her Xavier University-educated son, reported that his mother was abducted while blindfolded and restrained with shackles on X, formerly Twitter. Ibrahim stated that the motivation for the abduction of his mother is unknown.

Samaher resides in both Silwad and New Orleans, where she conducts multiple businesses, according to the news release.

All four of her children attended Patrick F. Taylor Academy of Science and Technology. Both daughters are enrolled at the University of New Orleans, while both of her sons graduated from Xavier and LSU.

According to her family, she was scheduled to return home in April for the first time to see her newborn granddaughter and attend one of her daughters’ UNO graduations. The Esmail family reports that the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem is assisting them in arranging for their mother’s release.
