With fall in full swing, Governor Ron DeSantis has come up with an exciting initiative called the Great Outdoors Initiative. This program is aimed at motivating the residents of Florida to step outside and discover the natural resources of the state, such as the sprawling recreational areas, award-winning state parks, and world-renowned waterways. It’s an excellent opportunity for people to reconnect with nature and enjoy the beauty of Florida’s great outdoors.
Governor DeSantis has taken a step towards promoting outdoor activities by signing Executive Order 23-209, also known as the Great Outdoors Initiative. This order directs the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) to offer a substantial 50 percent discount on annual state park passes and FWC Gold Sportsman hunting and fishing licenses. This move will encourage more people to explore the beauty of Florida’s natural resources and engage in outdoor activities.
The governor is a strong advocate for Floridians to make the most of our state’s natural resources and take part in cherished family traditions such as hunting and fishing.
From Oct. 14, 2023, to Jan. 13, 2024, Florida State Parks annual passes for both families and individuals will be available at a 50 percent discount from DEP. FWC will also be offering a 50 percent discount on its annual resident Gold Sportsman license, five-year Gold Sportsman license, and Lifetime Sportsman license during this period.
According to Governor DeSantis, Florida boasts some of the finest state parks, waterways, and recreational areas in the United States. He urges all residents of Florida to venture outdoors, explore the state’s exceptional natural resources, and relish in the inherent pleasure of hunting and fishing.
“We’re committed to making outdoor activities more accessible and affordable for families. As part of this effort, we’re offering state park passes as well as fishing and hunting licenses at significantly reduced rates. This will make it easier for families to explore and enjoy the natural wonders around them.”
If you’re looking for a world-class fishing and unique hunting experience, Florida should definitely be on your radar. With abundant recreational opportunities, this state remains one of the top destinations for outdoor enthusiasts. Take advantage of the discounted license offer and make this a family affair – there’s something for everyone to enjoy!
Florida boasts 175 state parks, trails, and historic sites, covering almost 800,000 acres, and 100 miles of sandy beaches. The park system has won the Gold Medal award four times, making it the best park system in the country. Not only is it a source of pride for the state, but it also provides a significant economic benefit. In the last fiscal year, Florida State Parks generated over $3.6 billion and supported more than 50,000 jobs.
The Florida State Parks Annual Passes are now up for grabs at an incredible 50% discount, and you can get them at the following rates: $60 plus tax for the Family Annual Pass and $30 plus tax for the Individual Annual Pass. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to explore the beauty of Florida’s state parks at an affordable price.
