Galveston police arrested East Texas man wanted for theft

Mocobizscene- A man from Cherokee County, who was suspected of theft, was apprehended in Galveston following an overnight search conducted by the police.

Authorities from the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office initiated a search on Saturday in the vicinity of FM 747 North and CR 3214 for Matthew Jones. Jones is wanted for multiple burglaries and vehicle thefts.Authorities said they called off the search by midday. However, they made it clear that investigators didn’t stop working and continued their efforts throughout the night to find him and his accomplice.

An investigator contacted Galveston Police to assist in locating Jones. Consequently, officers apprehended Jones at around 5 a.m. on the ferry as he attempted to enter Galveston from Crystal Beach. Jones was taken into custody and subsequently placed in jail due to charges related to drugs and theft. Additionally, several outstanding warrants against Jones have yet to be resolved.
