Foster mother from Indiana accused in the death of a 10-year-old boy apprehended in Michigan.

The reason behind the passing of a 10-year-old boy who died in April has now been made public.

A 10-year-old boy’s death has led to the arrest of an Indiana foster mother, who was apprehended in Michigan on Saturday evening.

According to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office, Jennifer Wilson, aged 48, was taken into custody at 8:18 p.m. on N Thompson Street, near Buffalo Street in New Buffalo. She was charged with reckless homicide.

On Friday, a warrant was issued for her arrest, and this update follows.

On April 25, authorities responded to a “medical emergency” at a home located in the 200 block of Falcon Way in Liberty Township. It is her homicide charge that is connected to this particular incident.

Upon their arrival at the scene, the officers discovered Dakota Stevens, who is only ten years old, and promptly took him to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

According to the St. Joseph County Coroner’s Office, Stevens passed away from “mechanical asphyxia” just two days later.

Officials have declared Stevens’ death as a homicide. It’s worth noting that Stevens was under foster care when he passed away.

The sheriff’s office was able to locate Wilson thanks to a license plate reader that allowed a deputy to identify her vehicle.

As of now, this is an ongoing story and we will continue to provide updates as they become accessible.
