Mocobizscene- On January 14, 2024, at 1:25 AM, an incident occurred at NB I-5 at Chapman Ave. in Orange.
Just before 1:30 Sunday Morning, a report of a stalled car sent units from the California Highway Patrol to the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 at Chapman in Orange.uh While en route, the stalled car was collided into by two vehicles.
One of the three vehicles burst into flames and was fully engulfed when a news photographer arrived. Units from the Orange Police and Fire Departments arrived to assist while the CHP was on the way. One driver was trapped in his vehicle for approximately 20 minutes while firefighters worked to extricate them.
One other person was transported to UCI Medical Center for treatment in an unknown condition. The trapped driver was also transported to UCI in an unknown condition. The third driver was not injured and spoke to CHP officers about the incident. All lanes except for the HOV lane will be closed for the next few hours for the investigation.
The California Highway Patrol in Westminster is responsible for handling agencies.
