In Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, Brianna M. Reno, a 27-year-old woman, has been sentenced to seven years in prison for her involvement in fentanyl trafficking. Reno was found guilty of conspiring to possess and distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl.
On April 16, Reno admitted guilt to the charge, and as a result, will serve a prison term followed by five years of supervised release.
On January 26, 2023, authorities intercepted two packages that raised suspicion in the Madison area, which were being sent from Arizona. Upon obtaining a search warrant, law enforcement officers opened the packages and discovered a stuffed animal in each, which contained approximately 2.2 kilograms of counterfeit prescription pills.
Upon investigation, it was discovered that over 40,000 pills had been seized and subsequent testing had confirmed the presence of fentanyl within the pills.
Upon arranging for a controlled delivery of a single package, law enforcement apprehended Jontell C. Shepherd and Alexis K. Davis, his co-defendant, as they arrived at the designated location to retrieve the package.
According to the government’s investigation, Reno had arranged for Keyshawna D. Draper, his co-defendant, to ship the fentanyl pills from Arizona to Madison.
The four defendants who faced charges have all entered guilty pleas. Shepherd and Draper are set to be sentenced on July 23, while Davis will receive sentencing on July 25.
