Fayette County authorities apprehend Ansted resident for felony drug offense

A man from Ansted has been taken into custody on a serious drug offense in Fayette County.

On Tuesday, July 9, 2024, Jonathon M. Williams, 27, found himself facing felony charges following a midday incident.

Sheriff Mike Fridley of Fayette County reported that his deputies were in the process of serving a felony warrant in the vicinity of White Row Road.

As they kept watch, they noticed Williams and another man standing outside a house.

As soon as the deputies approached, the two men hastily threw their backpacks under an ATV and made an attempt to walk away.

Williams was apprehended by the deputies and upon searching his backpack, they found suspected methamphetamine and marijuana.

The authorities have accused Williams of possessing a Schedule II Narcotic with the intent to deliver it.

After being unable to post bond, he was then transferred to Southern Regional Jail.
