Mocobizscene- A tragic accident occurred on Thursday, December 14, resulting in the loss of a driver’s life and the closure of the Lapalco Bridge in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana.
Deputies swiftly arrived at the collision site in unincorporated Westwego’s 9600 block of Lapalco Boulevard, following a timely response from Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joseph Lopinto’s team at approximately 3:12 p.m.
According to Lopinto, the preliminary investigation suggests that two pickup trucks were traveling in opposite directions on the bridge at the time of the accident. It is believed that the truck traveling westbound veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with an eastbound truck.
According to Lopinto, the bridge’s closure is expected to continue for one to two hours. Motorists are currently being redirected at Nicolle and Segnette Boulevards. An investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the crash.
