Fatal collision at Anaheim and Atlantic results in driver’s death, according to police

Mocobizscene-  According to the police, the man was driving a 2012 Ford Focus eastbound on Anaheim Street when he was broadsided by the driver of a 2012 Lexus IS250. The Lexus driver was headed northbound on Atlantic Avenue at the time of the accident.

Just before 11:50 p.m., officers received a notification about the crash and quickly arrived at the intersection. Upon their arrival, they discovered a man trapped inside his vehicle.

The man was pronounced dead by Long Beach Fire Department personnel who arrived shortly after, according to the police. The man has been identified as Rodger Lee Watkins, a 60-year-old, by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The driver of the Lexus, a 31-year-old woman from Long Beach, stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. She was later taken to a nearby hospital for her non-life-threatening injuries, according to the police.

The police currently suspect that the crash may have been caused by factors such as speeding, distracted driving, and impaired driving.
