Fall River Reporter reports on the arrest of two individuals by Dartmouth Police for their alleged involvement in a widespread retail theft ring across Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Local law enforcement officials have apprehended two individuals from Massachusetts for shoplifting, but there is reason to suspect that their activities extend beyond petty theft.

At around 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Kohl’s at 81 Faunce Corner Road reported a shoplifting incident to the Dartmouth Police. As per the authorities, this particular shoplifting is suspected to be linked to a larger syndicate of organized retail crime.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing two women hiding various items at Kohl’s before leaving in a dark-colored vehicle. Shortly after, officers and detectives were able to locate the car and conduct a traffic stop.

At the time of the stop, the two women confessed to taking several items from Kohl’s. Further inspection at the scene led the officers to discover additional items that were suspected to be stolen from another store. After conducting a brief investigation, Dartmouth Police discovered that the stolen merchandise from Kohl’s, Victoria’s Secret, Bath & Body Works and Ulta Beauty totaled over $4,000. The merchandise was promptly returned to the respective stores, and both women were apprehended and taken into custody.

Two young women, Kaytlyn Lynch aged 20 and Brooklyn Burns aged 21, both residents of Dorchester, have been charged with shoplifting over $250 by concealing merchandise, as well as one count of receiving stolen property.

According to reports, a well-coordinated retail crime group, which is responsible for stealing merchandise worth thousands of dollars across Massachusetts and Rhode Island, may have involvement of women in it.
