Ex-Capitol Police Officer Issues Warning Against Another Jan. 6 Attack

Former U.S. Capitol Police officer Harry Dunn has issued a warning, stating that another attack on the Capitol similar to the events of January 6, 2021, could occur due to a lack of accountability at the highest level. Dunn emphasized that there are no preventive measures in place to deter such an attack from happening again.

During his appearance on MSNBC’s “The Weekend,” Dunn, who testified before the House select committee investigating the attack on the Capitol, emphasized the dual purpose of accountability.

According to the individual, providing restitution or healing to the victims and acting as a deterrent to prevent future incidents is crucial. They believe that there has not been sufficient accountability at the highest level for the events of January 6, and as a result, there is nothing in place to prevent a similar occurrence from happening again.

According to Dunn, the paramount concern in the 2024 election is “democracy” rather than other significant issues. He argues that if former President Trump were to return to the Oval Office, it would undermine the Democrats’ aspirations of accomplishing any policy objectives.

According to Dunn, a candidate for Maryland’s 3rd Congressional District seat, the primary concern at hand is democracy. He emphasizes that numerous critical issues are at stake, such as women’s reproductive rights, gun safety, affordable healthcare, and more. However, all of these matters become insignificant if we have a dictator in the White House who can impose his will without any accountability.

“If we have a dictator in the White House, all of the issues that Democrats are fighting for will become irrelevant,” she emphasized.

During his testimony, Dunn described how he personally witnessed police officers being attacked during the Jan. 6 riot.

Running in the Democratic primary, he aims to succeed retiring Rep. John Sarbanes (D-Md.). In February, he garnered notable endorsements from House Democrats, including Reps. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.), and Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas), further boosting his campaign.
