Emergency airlift to hospital after child pedestrian accident near Miami-Dade elementary school

Mocobizscene- A child in northwest Miami-Dade was hit by a vehicle near a school on Thursday morning and had to be airlifted to a hospital. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials were dispatched to the 500 block of Northeast 151st Street following a call at 7:08 a.m.

The crash occurred outside Biscayne Gardens Elementary School. Multiple units were dispatched to the scene, according to MDFR officials. The child is currently in critical condition at Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, according to an update on Thursday evening.

The Miami-Dade police have confirmed that the driver responsible for hitting the young boy stayed at the scene after the incident. It is still uncertain whether or not the driver will be charged for their actions.

Officials have not released any additional information at this time.
