A video that will tug at your heartstrings captures the unfortunate moment when a veteran crossing guard in NYC lost his life after being hit by a dump truck. He assisted pedestrians to cross a bustling street outside an elementary school in Queens.
Krystyna Naprawa, a beloved crossing guard, can be seen donning a yellow raincoat as she dutifully guides students and pedestrians across Atlantic Avenue at Woodhaven Avenue in Woodhaven at approximately 8 a.m. on October 20th.
Naprawa is forcefully pushed to the ground as the dump truck slowly pulls up behind her. Since 2010, Naprawa, who is 63 years old, has been working as a crossing guard. The unfortunate incident resulted in her passing right on the spot, merely 1,000 feet away from PS 60.
Hector Yepes, 39, was the driver involved in the incident and he stayed at the scene. He was given a ticket for not yielding to a pedestrian and for failing to exercise due care.
