Mocobizscene-A Virginia man is charged with telling deputies they would be “smoked” if they tried to stop him from killing himself in a hotel in West Virginia.
According to WBOY-TV, Matthew Collins, 39, of Virginia Beach, was accused of domestic abuse and making threats of terrorist actions.
According to a criminal report, deputies from the Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office were called to a room at the Inn At Snowshoe in Slaty Ford. Minutes before 10 p.m. EST on Monday, deputies received a report of an assault and battery.
Collins allegedly told the deputies they “needed to leave” and would not open the door. A deputy reportedly overheard a lady instructing Collins to “just talk to him,” according to WBOY. Collins allegedly threatened to shoot the lady after approximately twenty minutes and then turn the pistol on himself, according to WDTV.
Collins was reportedly instructed to leave the room by the deputy once more, and the suspect allegedly replied, “You better not come in here or you’ll get smoked,” according to the report.
A few minutes later, deputies were able to enter the room and safely take Collins into jail.
