As part of an investigation into the Natural Bridge Zoo, the Virginia Attorney General’s Office has issued search warrants revealing the seizure of 95 living animals, dozens of deceased animals, and several animal body parts from the premises.
Charges of animal cruelty, owner care of companion animals, and owner care of agricultural animals are under investigation by the authorities. A considerable proportion of the confiscated animals were deceased, one of which was a white tiger that, with the owners’ permission, was euthanized throughout the investigation to end its suffering.
It is unclear from the warrants whether the remaining animals were deceased at the time of the authorities’ arrival or whether they were euthanized throughout the investigation.
A hearing in the Rockbridge County General District Court has been slated for December 20, and an investigation continues.
