Mocobizscene- The department’s Emergency Response Team skillfully convinced Julius James, a 46-year-old individual who had caused chaos and sent three people to the hospital, to surrender. This accomplishment was reported in an alert from the agency at approximately 9 p.m. on February 14th.
Members of the Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call at around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday. The officers were attempting to arrest James in the 5000 block of Hanna Place SE for an animal cruelty charge. The day was long for the police department as they dealt with this incident.
During the standoff, James took refuge inside the house and intermittently discharged his firearm. Following a series of negotiations that lasted for several hours, law enforcement managed to establish contact with him over the phone. Eventually, James peacefully surrendered, bringing the situation to a close without any additional complications.
After the standoff, law enforcement took James into custody and accused him of cruelty to animals. However, there are still pending charges related to the shooting involving the officer and the standoff.
According to Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela Smith, all four officers who were injured on Wednesday are in good spirits and have non-life-threatening injuries.
As a result of the incident, James’s presence prompted authorities to temporarily relocate a number of local residents while law enforcement negotiated with him.
