A man was shot and killed by a California Highway Patrol officer in Lynwood, Southern California, during an altercation on a closed interstate. Following reports from motorists of a man walking on the interstate, which prompted the highway patrol to halt traffic in one direction, the shooting transpired.
Prior to the discharge of shots, a video circulating on social media shows the officer entangled with the individual on the pavement. The individual appeared to be in a supine position, apparently attempting to seize the officer, who struck him with a punch before reaching for his service weapon. While being aimed at him with the gun, the man remained immobile on the ground as the officer discharged multiple rounds from close range.
