M. Night Shyamalan believes that Bruce Willis’ family serves as a source of strength and security for the actor as he confronts frontotemporal dementia.
The acclaimed director, who has been nominated for an Oscar, recently made an appearance at a PR event to promote his highly anticipated film, “Trap,” set to debut on August 9. During an interview with People, he took the opportunity to express his admiration for his dear friend and former partner in film, Bruce Willis.
M. Night mentioned that the individual in question is fortunate to have a caring and affectionate family.
Bruce Willis, the renowned actor, made the decision to retire from his acting career in 2022 due to his diagnosis of aphasia. This condition, which affects one’s ability to communicate, led him to step away from the limelight. However, unfortunate news followed as it was revealed ten months later that Bruce was also battling frontotemporal degeneration, a progressive brain disorder. This revelation was made public by both his wife, Emma Hemming Willis, and his ex-wife, Demi Moore. The actor’s health struggles have shed light on the challenges he is facing, and his loved ones have been supportive throughout this difficult period.
Ever since Bruce started experiencing symptoms, his blended family has been there for him every step of the way. They have taken care of him, supported him, and shielded him from the overwhelming media coverage. In addition to his partner Emma and stepdaughter Demi, Bruce’s adult daughters Rumer, Tallulah, and Scout, as well as his young daughters Mabel and Evelyn, have been by his side throughout this challenging time.
M. Night Shyamalan expressed his belief that the individuals involved are putting in their utmost effort.
Bruce Willis Was M. Night Shyamalan’s Childhood “Hero”
Bruce and M. Night developed a close bond while working together on the film “The Sixth Sense.” For the director, having Bruce as the lead actor in the movie was a dream come true, as he had always looked up to him as his childhood hero.
“I grew up idolizing him, with his posters adorning my bedroom wall. Nobody else could have portrayed those iconic characters in movies like ‘Pulp Fiction’ or ‘Die Hard’,” he shared with the Hollywood Reporter in 2023.
Bruce Willis and M. Night Shyamalan have had a long-standing professional relationship, with Willis starring in many of Shyamalan’s movies. Not only have they worked together, but their families have also developed a close bond over the years.
Bruce’s departure from Hollywood was announced by his family, and in response, M. Night took to Twitter to express his deep emotions towards the iconic actor.
“I have immense love and respect for my older brother Bruce Willis,” he expressed. “I am aware that his incredible family is providing him with unwavering support and strength. As a child, he was the hero depicted on the poster hanging on my wall.”
