Bayonne Man, 66, Arrested in Hit-and-Run Incident on West Side

Mocobizscene-A 66-year-old man has been taken into custody and accused of being involved in a hit-and-run incident that occurred on the West Side in February.

Rey Rosario, a resident of Bayonne, has been accused by Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez of fleeing the scene of a crash. The incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. on February 10, 2023, when the Jersey City Police Department received a report of a pedestrian being hit near Communipaw Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard.

Officers who responded to the incident discovered a 39-year-old woman from Jersey City who had sustained multiple injuries. The vehicle that struck her did not stay at the scene. The victim was promptly transported to Jersey City Medical Center by Emergency Medical Services, where she received treatment for her serious injuries.

On January 5, the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit apprehended Rosario on Monmouth Street in Jersey City.

He was released and is awaiting his first court appearance.
