Authorities have reported that several individuals were shot in a community located in northern Illinois on Wednesday. The incident took place in Dixon.
According to a post on the Winnebago Boone & Ogle County Fire/Ems Incidents Facebook page, Lost Lake community near Dixon saw the arrival of ambulances and two medical helicopters amidst a significant police presence.
According to a spokesperson from Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital in Dixon, three individuals were brought to the hospital’s emergency department. Out of the three, two were treated and released. The condition of the third individual has not been disclosed by the spokesperson.
The Ogle County Sheriff’s Department declined to comment when The Associated Press reached out to them by phone. However, according to their website, a news conference is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
On Wednesday afternoon, local media captured aerial footage of the neighborhood, which showed law enforcement vehicles and personal cars parked on unpaved roads. Officials could be seen gathering in small groups, but there was minimal ongoing activity. At least one driveway was blocked off by yellow police tape, and a mobile command center from the Ogle County sheriff’s office was parked at the end of the drive.
According to the property owner’s association of Lost Lake, the region is a “country style community” that comprises around 700 proprietors in a non-incorporated locality situated near Dixon, Franklin Grove, and Oregon. Lost Lake is located approximately 100 miles (160 kilometers) west of Chicago.
