Atlanta police investigate discovery of several stolen purses in local woods, including one belonging to a woman

The Atlanta police department is currently conducting an investigation following the discovery of numerous stolen purses that were found abandoned in a wooded area.

Elizabeth Rawlins of Channel 2 spoke to a woman who had her purse stolen from her car at Chastain Park last Thursday. Despite the theft, the woman was able to locate her purse thanks to a tracking device that she had inside it.

According to the woman, she discovered her purse alongside other items discarded in the woods. After spotting the belongings, she took it upon herself to contact the Atlanta Police Department and remained at the scene until law enforcement arrived. As reported by Channel 2 Action News, the woman ensured that the authorities were notified of the discovery.

Rawlins was informed by her that a pleasant afternoon with her children at the park spiraled into a terrifying experience.

The woman exclaimed, “My purse is not here!” as she got back into her car.

Preferring not to reveal her face on camera, she explained that her entire life was contained within her purse – from her laptop to her credit cards and even her social security numbers. Unfortunately, some of this critical information has yet to be recovered.

“I was able to track locations between last night and this morning,” she informed Channel 2 Action News.

According to Rawlins, the woman informed him that she had managed to locate her purse, using her laptop and earbuds, in a wooded area situated almost 10 miles away in the northwest of Atlanta.

The woman expressed, “He discovered my purse along with several others containing their personal and private possessions.”

Upon arrival at the scene, the woman discovered a collection of purses, bags, and bookbags that bore all the markings of being stolen and then carelessly discarded in a single spot.

The woman expressed her satisfaction with the officer who responded to the contact made by “you guys”. She praised the officer for being proactive and competent, and expressed confidence in her ability to take appropriate action.

In the end, the woman successfully handed over the stolen purses to the police. She is optimistic that this will bring a sense of closure not only to her case but also to the others involved.

“Why do you wake up every day and go to work if people are just going to take everything away from you?” she asked.

While it is not advisable to take matters into one’s own hands like the woman and mother in this scenario, possessing tracking devices can undoubtedly aid law enforcement officials in their investigations.
