District Attorney Hoovler emphasized that offenders must be aware that if they fail to appear in court or do not uphold their commitments made during the plea, they will face more severe penalties, regardless of the modifications made to the bail laws in New York State.
Making, Selling Untraceable AR-15 Style Ghost Guns
According to the documents filed and statements made in court, Showers was accused of engaging in the production and sale of untraceable AR-15-style ghost guns without any serial numbers.
“According to Hoovler, untraceable ghost guns present a grave threat when they fall into the wrong hands. He emphasizes the urgency for law enforcement to intervene and prevent any potential tragedies, especially in cases where these guns are illegally possessed and sold to individuals with unknown motives.”
Found With Illegal Ghost Gun In Minisink
In September 2021, Showers admitted to possessing a loaded assault weapon unlawfully in the Town of Minisink.
Police and prosecutors hold great respect and admiration for individuals who lawfully possess firearms. However, they are dedicated to holding accountable those who deliberately violate gun laws and distribute illegal weapons to other criminals without any consideration. Offenders need to understand that even with changes in bail laws in New York State, they will not escape the consequences of their actions.
