Alabama could experience severe storms overnight

Forecasters are predicting the possibility of strong to severe storms overnight in Alabama.

The most powerful storms may bring about destructive winds, intense rainfall, and the possibility of a tornado.

Alabamians, especially those residing in west and south Alabama, are being strongly advised by forecasters to ensure that they have a dependable method of receiving severe weather warnings during the overnight hours.

Overnight, the gusty winds will persist and have the potential to bring down trees and power lines. Earlier today, the National Weather Service received several reports of trees being knocked down.

The Storm Prediction Center of NOAA is currently maintaining a Level 2 risk for severe weather in parts of west Alabama overnight. This implies that there is a possibility of isolated severe storms occurring.

Isolated severe storms may be possible in parts of Alabama, as there is a Level 1 risk for severe weather in those areas.

According to forecasters, the storms are not moving as quickly as initially predicted and may not reach Alabama’s western border until midnight. These storms are anticipated to travel from west to east across the state and there is a possibility that they may lose some intensity as they progress further into Alabama.

Tornadoes are more likely tonight as a tornado watch is currently in effect to the west of Alabama.

According to the SPC, there is a possibility of storms in south Alabama during the morning hours. The severe weather outlook for Tuesday indicates a Level 2 risk for areas in south Alabama.

The storms are forecasted to dissipate on Tuesday, leaving Alabama without any severe weather risks for the remainder of the week.

Late on Monday, forecasters from the National Weather Service in different parts of the state shared their insights and predictions.
