Agriculture Commissioner in Georgia Issues Warning About Dangerous Kerosene Sold at Clarksville Circle K Store

MocobizsceneGeorgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper is cautioning individuals who bought kerosene from the Circle K store situated at 5000 Talmadge Drive in Clarksville, GA 30523, on or after October 19, 2023, to refrain from using the product in kerosene heaters or lamps. There is a possibility that the kerosene is contaminated with gasoline, which can lead to fire or explosion if used in household heaters or lamps. The Fuel & Measures Division of the Georgia Department of Agriculture has issued a “Stop Sale” order on the kerosene pump at this specific store.

“The primary goal of the Fuel & Measures Division within the Georgia Department of Agriculture is to safeguard the integrity and excellence of fuel in Georgia, while also providing protection for consumers,” emphasized Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper. Harper further emphasized that individuals who have obtained kerosene from this particular establishment should refrain from using it under any circumstances. Additionally, affected consumers are encouraged to visit the store for a complete refund of their purchase.”

During a routine inspection, the staff of the Fuel & Measures Division of the Georgia Department of Agriculture found contaminated products at the store. As a result, they promptly issued a “Stop Sale” order. This order will stay in effect until the tank and lines are thoroughly cleaned, and a new batch of kerosene is tested and approved by the Department.
