AEP Ohio getting ready to offer assistance in anticipation of Beryl’s arrival in the southern region

As Hurricane Beryl approaches Texas, the work crews of AEP Ohio are preparing to extend assistance to their customers in the area.

AEP officials announced on social media that they are sending over 120 lineworkers and support team members from across the state to aid in the restoration efforts in Corpus Christi. Beryl’s path is expected to cause extensive power outages in AEP Texas’ service territory. The team left early in the morning for a two-day road trip to the location.

AEP takes great pride in their field personnel, who exhibit a strong willingness to assist those in need.

Officials added their prayers for all those in the path of the storm and urged everyone to drive safely. They also extended their support to the crews working diligently to manage the situation.

As Beryl approaches the coast of Texas, a Hurricane Warning and a Tropical Storm Warning remain in effect for much of the region, including inland areas. The winds are expected to escalate, and precautions should be taken to ensure safety.

According to experts, power line interruptions may occur due to wind causing them to swing together and create a fault or short circuit.

When the wind is strong, it has the potential to cause damage to power lines and utility poles. In some cases, it can even uproot entire trees and knock them onto power lines, causing them to fall to the ground. This can result in extensive damage to the infrastructure that delivers power, leaving people without electricity until repairs can be made. Additionally, severe winds can also break power lines and utility poles, causing further damage and prolonging the restoration process.
