According to some experts, the film industry in Georgia is experiencing a downturn.

The pace of Georgia’s film industry has begun to decelerate.

Following last year’s writers’ and actors’ strike, the start of 2024 has been slow to pick up momentum.

According to estimates, Georgia is experiencing a nearly 40% decrease in productions this year as compared to the previous year.

Carla Vanessa Wallace, a makeup artist from Atlanta, is presently working on a set in the metro area. However, she mentioned that finding work this year has been challenging.

She said, “I personally know individuals who have lost their homes and cars, and had to downsize or share their living space. As a union member, one may be worried about losing their benefits.”

According to location manager and producer David Luse, the impact of the ongoing strike is widespread across the nation. Luse revealed that despite the misconception that the strike is over and everything has returned to normal, a majority of workers, about 60-70%, are still out of work.

Fortunately, there are reports indicating that things are beginning to recover.
