Mocobizscene- A 71-year-old man was apprehended by a Beech Grove Police Department officer in Indianapolis after a lengthy police pursuit that spanned multiple counties. The chase, which began in Bartholomew County, was far from a high-speed race.
According to a news release from the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department on Thursday, Donald Seawood from Indianapolis was driving at low speeds on I-65. The police attempted to stop the vehicle but were unsuccessful, so they resorted to using tire-deflating devices.
Seawood allegedly encountered an obstacle along the way before the pursuit reached its conclusion near the Johnson County line in Indianapolis.
The pursuit began at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the vicinity of U.S. 31 North and Bartholomew County Road W 500 N, located on the southern outskirts of Taylorsville. Deputy Maximino Medina of Bartholomew County observed Seawood’s red Ford Fusion traveling at approximately 36 mph in a 55-mph zone, when suddenly the vehicle came to a stop in the middle of the road before continuing northbound. Deputy Medina initially tried to pull over the Fusion on a ramp leading to I-65 from U.S. 31.
The pursuit route spanned over 25 miles. Seawood was found to be driving without a license, as per the police. Arrest records indicate that Seawood has a history of three prior incidents where they resisted law enforcement. Taylorsville, known for its popular attraction, the Indiana Premium Outlets mall, is conveniently located just a 40-minute drive south of downtown Indianapolis.
