BAKERSFIELD, California: The California Highway Patrol reports that four people lost their lives in a head-on collision on Highway 14 in the Mojave area on Friday.
Officers stated that they are unsure if alcohol or narcotics were consumed.
Around 8:41 p.m., the collision occurred south of Horse Canyon Road. According to CHP, a Mercedes traveling south entered the northbound lane to pass another car and struck a Jeep.
The 61-year-old driver of the Mercedes and an unidentified passenger perished in the collision. According to police, the passenger, 27, and the driver of the Jeep, 23, both passed away. The coroner’s office will make their names public.
According to CHP, the only person who survived was a 24-year-old passenger in the Jeep who was transported to Antelope Valley Medical Center after suffering severe injuries. According to the officers, none of the people involved lived in the county.
Investigations into the crash are still ongoing. In addition to thanking the drivers who came to their aid, the officers advised drivers to obey speed limits and only overtake when it is safe to do so.
