3 men charged with weapons offenses in connection with the death of a Newark imam

NEWARK, New Jersey- After an imam in Newark was shot dead outside his mosque, three men are being charged with possessing guns.

Just after the pre-dawn prayer at Masjid Muhammad earlier this month, Hassan Sharif was shot and killed.

Authorities claim that three males are currently being charged with weapons. A third was freed on a summons, while the other two are being held in Essex County.hSharif held the position of TSA agent at Newark Liberty International Airport in addition to serving as the mosque’s imam for five years.
